With US coastal waters now opening up again to more drilling and exploration, hiring is going to take off very quickly, providing jobs to tens of thousands. Too, oil is getting harder to find, yet demand goes up every year, creating a perfect storm of rising oil prices and increased exploration and drilling. 

The oil industry is therefore gearing up for a massive wave of new hiring over the next 10 years; as half the workers in the industry will be retiring, they will all need replaced - and then some.  Indeed, it is not to far off to call it "the next black gold rush".
